THE JOURNEY

We begin the trip with a panoramic view of Callao´s Bay, Peruvian´s main port and La Punta beach.  We will see Navy warships as well as private yachts and sailboats.

Callao Bay and La Punta

During low tides, we will see "El Camotal", a sandbank that was once part of the port until the 1746`s earthquake, when part of Callao slipped beneath the sea.

Then we will continue our way to "San Lorenzo Island", 4Km from Callao´s Bay, the biggest (8Km) and highest (370mt) Island in Peru.  Nowadays, it is a desert island where we can only find a Naval Base and the Presidential Beach House. It has a significant historical and archeological value.

San Lorenzo Island

It served as a base of operations for English and Holland pirates that harassed Callao, and also for the Spanish Army when they were trying to recover their independent colonies.  During the Republic period it was a prison for political enemies of several governments.

El Fronton Island

Near San Lorenzo is "El Fronton Island" or "Death Island", where there are still the remains of the prison that was there until 1986, when it was definitively closed after a big riot.

After approximately one hour and 20 minutes sailing, we will arrive to "PALOMINO ISLANDS", where we will find thousands of sea lions and will enjoy a marvelous show watching them swimming and playing between the rocks and caverns of the island.  These islands are also inhabited by sea birds as Pelicans, Guanay Cormorant, Red Legged Cormorant, Inca Tern, Peruvian Booby, and occasionally Humboldt Penguin.

Here you will have the chance to swim with the seals and/or take the best pictures from our yacht during an approximately 30- 45 minute stop.  An extraordinary experience that you can´t miss.

Palomino Islands

Returnign to the north of San Lorenzo, we will find still waters where we will serve some snacks and beverages for you to enjoy the way back to the dock.
